I am seeking information on Mary Moore (b. 1800 in Ireland d. 28 Mar 1859 in Texas). According to the 1850 Census, Mary was living in Polk County, Texas with her sons Abraham (age 30) and Hiram W (age 19)..
Mary moved to Texas from Newberry County, South Carolina after the death of her husband Samuel.
Summer’s Newberry County, South Carolina: Historical and Genealogical Annals states:
"Samuel Moore died August 21, 1841, leaving widow, Mary and children: Robert T., Elizabeth (wife of George W. Yarborough), Abraham E., Andrew J., Nancy (wife of J. Walter Stockman), Samuel W., Mary Jane, Deborah Ann, And Hiram W. Mrs. Mary Moore moved to Texas with some children and died in Lear County, of that state, on March 28, 1859, leaving children: Deborah Ann (wife of Drayton Nolly), Elizabeth Yarborough, Mary Jane (wife of Joel Wise), Nancy Stockman; also grand-children, D. Langdon, Samuel, Pressly, Frances, Mary Jane, Caroline – children of a deceased son, Robert T. Moore; and Samuel, Martha, and Deborah Ann – children of a deceased son, Andrew J. Moore."
Summer was incorrect in stating Mary Moore moved to/died in Lear County, Texas as the 1850 Census shows the family was in Polk County, Texas. I do not know what happened to the family after 1850. My assumption is Mary died in Polk County and the family either settled in Polk County or moved to some other location. If possible, I’d like to find the location of the grave of Mary Moore and information as to what happened to her family.
