Mattie Johnson Cottrell Parker Co. 1874

Hi. I'm looking for information on my great grandmother Mattie Johnson. She was born in 1858 in what most census records and family history indicates to be Kentucky. (One says Texas).

She married Martin Gilbert Cottrell in Parker County Texas in 1874. From there she moved to Clay County, Iowa Park, and then Oklahoma, where she died in Frederick in 1912. She had ten children, including Effalie (b. 1875, married name Snoddy), John (b. 1877), Nettie (b. 1879), Addie (b. 1881, married name Harris), Theo (b. 1885, married name Hodges), Sammie (b. 1887), Maude (b. 1890, married name Gottlieb), Bert (b. 1892), Willie (b. 1895) and Clay Rex (b. 1898).

I have no information as to her ancestors. One source has the parents possibly being Mathie and Polly. Most census reports indicate Mattie's father was born in Virginia and her mother in Georgia.

I have a photo of her wearing a brooch that says "Virgie." Whether this refers to an ancestor or to the town in Kentucky, I do not know. I'm guessing ancestor.

A land affidavit for her father-in-law George W. Cottrell is witnessed by what appears to be Rainey Johnson in 1861. I do not know if this is a relative or not.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Thanks!
