I would appreciate any help in locating a John R. Garner. Found his birth place, Georgia, his wife and birth place, Sarah Elizabeth, Georgia, all his children. Would like to find his parents names. Checked all through Georgia, Heard Co. and surrounding Co.'s but no luck. John was born in 1818 and married Sarah b 1820 also Heard Co. First 2 children 1. Josiah John b 12/1835 & 2. Mary b 1840 both born in Georgia. Then they started moving. Next child 3. Ann Eliza b july, 1859 in Alabama. Then 4. John Thomas Aug. 1846 Shelby Co., Tx. 5. Andrew, Waxahachie, Ellis Co., Tx. 6. Wylie James (Doc) (my g-grt grandfather) april 1849 Panola Co. married Cherokee Co. died Denison Tx. 7. Elizabeth Jane b 1853 and 8. Sophrona b 1854 both born in Tx. Probably Panola Co. THEN John died in 1855. John owned 296 acres in what was called Iron Bayou near Beckville. I have a cousin that lives close to there and said there is a cemetery only a few miles north at Grand Bluff, Sabine River Crossing. Said cemetery had only a few markers. John R. died in 1855 at the age of 37. Don't know what from but left a large family. His wife remarried soon (1858) after he died to a Shannon (born in Ireland) and they had 1 child, John. Can only find them in the 1860 census then lost them. John R.'s father is supposed to be 1 of 6 brothers that came from Ireland. I've heard that story from several people but no proof as yet. I think John had a brother and his wife move to Texas with him as they lived close. Thomas 39 & Margaret 28 both born in Georgia are listed in the 1860 & 1870 Panola Co. census living in Beckville. Also I think John R. brought several slaves with him (1850 census microfilm #M432-918). I have a copy of that. There might have been another brother (Wm. M.). I also have 1 petition to the Panola Co. Court from J. Thomas Garner (his son) filed Oct 1856 and the other an opposition from J.W. Williams Nov 1856. Would like to find John R.'s parents. Been stuck here for several years. Any help would be appreciated. Have lots other info if you need anything. Thanks, Jack jacks@axelan.com Notify Administrator about this message?
