HOLLAND family mystery

Hi all,

Firstly, I am in continual search of my gg-grandfather "WT" William T. HOLLAND. Any information would be of great help as his birthplace is very sketchy, b. 1830-1837? GA, SC, Ala, even a big longshot (or a g-uncle's joke on the census taker) France.

I have a mystery on my hands, hope someone can help me out. Can someone help me solve this relationship mystery? Or find an 1850 census for my WT HOLLAND? Or a marriage record possibly to Mary Blackwell/Blackburn, one possibly to a Catherine WILLIS, and definetely to Susan A. "unknown" born GA 1829.

MORE IMPORTANTLY (SEE BELOW): How does the WILLIS family (ie. Catherine WILLIS) fit into the kinship of the HOLLANDs of Newton County? (I'm a bit stumped)

1860 Newton County, TX
36 36 Wm C Willis 67 NC
M, 60, f, SC
JL, 22, m, Ala
Rebecca A., 20, Ala
Benjamin 18 Ala

1860 Newton County, TX
181 181 W T HOLLAND, 28 Ala
Mary 39 GA
Lydia A, 8, FL
William, 5, TX
James D, 2, TX

1870 Newton Co, TX (ages are off but family is too similar/maybe ages given by a neighbor?)
360 362 WILLIS, William C C 78 NC
Catherine, 40, SC
Rebecca, 29, Ala

1880 Newton County, TX Precint 1
page 548A
W.A. HOLLAND Self M S W 24 TX
Lydia HOLLAND Sister F S W 26 TX
Cathrine WILLIS SMother F W W 40 AL
Rebecca WILLIS Aunt F S W 28 FL

I am following a lead (which I really hope is not another dead end *fingers crossed*). I have searched endlessly for an extremely long time for my WT HOLLAND.

Daughter Lydia and sibling William (W.A.) HOLLAND are listed on the 1860 census with a WT HOLLAND and Mary "unknown". I am desprately attempting to discover the workings of this particular family to make a connection. Did this WT survive? As he and wife Mary disappear from the 1870 Newton County census. Was WT a father to Lydia? How are these families connected, and where do the WILLIS's come in?

My WT HOLLAND shows up in Tyler County, TX circa 1864 and dies there in 1866 leaving a widow Susan A. "unknown". My (gg-grandfather) WT's oldest known son always claimed that his mother was named Mary BLACKWELL or BLACKBURN (this info came from a family member so surname is unclear). I suspect that if there were a wife Mary first that she died after 1863 or likely in the childbirth of a daughter namesaked Mary b.1863 who was deaf and dumb.

What relationship(s) would have to develop for Catherine to be a "stepmother" to Lydia in 1880 when WT was (possibly) recently married to Mary in 1860 and Catherine was residing in the WILLIS household in 1870? Is it possible that this is my WT HOLLAND as he often used "WT". Could he have married a Mary, that died, then married a Catherine, and divorced. Catherine remarries a WILLIS or takes back her maiden name, and my WT married a Susan then dies in Tyler County, TX in 1866 (according to probate). If so, why have we never heard of the "other" possible children? Boy if that isn't a longshot I don't know what is! But I'm desperate.

Widow Susan remarried a JW DAVIS in 1880 Tyler County and shows up with WT's children Council, Mitchel and William Jr. (Benjamin and Mary disappear from the 1880 Tyler Co census)

I am interested, also, in the 1850 census, if it lists any HOLLAND families living there.

I truly appreciate ANY information or ANY ideas that anyone can provide. Am willing to follow any lead or research methods.

Thanks in advance,
Michelle
