I believe Echo was a community south of Vidor along the old T&O railroad tracks. I can't recall exactly where, but as a child I remember seeing the sign along the RR tracks and asking my dad....seems he said it was a mail stop for the railroad at one time. If this is critical to your search let me know and I can probably find out with some digging.
