Well, I checked 1930 census for information on son Foster. Susie wasn't living "with" her son, she was an inmate in the county home and he was living alone as a night watchman. So, this looks like a match for Foster and gives you name of his father/Susie's husband -- from the TX Dth Idx thru 1976: Name: J F Brooks Death Date: 16 Apr 1931 Death Place: Narasoto, Grimes Co, Texas Gender: Male Race: White Death Age: 56 years 8 months 4 days Estimated Birth Date: Birth Date: 12 Aug 1874 Birthplace: Ga Marital Status: Divorced Spouse's Name: Elizabeth Godwin Father's Name: Jas J Brooks Father's Birthplace: Ga Mother's Name: Susie Summons Mother's Birthplace: Ga Occupation: Night Watching Place of Residence: Cemetery: Burial Place: Narasoto Burial Date: 17 Apr 1931 Additional Relatives: Film Number: 2135520 Digital Film Number: 4163594 Image Number: 698 Reference Number: 18610 [note, occupation night watching] In 1900 Foster is a boarder, sgle and living in Cleveland Co, OK. By 1910 he's back in GA, listed as a boarder, married 6 yrs, but no wife in that residence, again listed as a watchman. TX Dth Idx thru 1976: Name: Susie A. Brooks Death Date: 01 Jun 1930 Death Place: Orange, Orange, Texas Gender: Female Race: w Death Age: 79 years 3 months 3 days Estimated Birth Date: Birth Date: 28 Feb 1851 Birthplace: Hall County, Georgia Marital Status: Widowed Spouse's Name: Father's Name: John D. Simmons Father's Birthplace: N.C. Mother's Name: Mary Riley Mother's Birthplace: Banks County, Ga. Occupation: Place of Residence: Cemetery: Evergreen Cemetery Burial Place: Evergreen Cemetery Burial Date: 01 Jun 1930 Additional Relatives: Film Number: 2135327 Digital Film Number: 4163675 Image Number: 38 Reference Number: 31033 [Informant: J.F. Brooks, looks like Foster was the informant] Obituaries often list survivors and you might find out if Susie had any other children, or if Foster had any children. On Find a Grave site I do not see a posting for Susie in the Evergreen Cemetery. You might submit a request for a photo of her headstone. But, in 1930 that was hard times, depression and all, she might not have had a headstone, unless one was erected later. Happy Hunting (^_^) Notify Administrator about this message?
