Wish I could find someone who knows of this mystery man. There is a George P. Hardy on the Newton County, 1850 census. I believe his middle name was Persinger, and is probably his real surname but which he changed to Hardy about 1837 while in Indiana. It has been stated in family records that George moved south to Orange County, Texas but I can't find him anyplace. He had 3 children with Elizabeth, a wife from Missouri, all daughters, Margaret 1842, Susanne Ursula 1844 & Martha Rebecca 1848.
