Hello Larry: My understanding of the terms goes back to hearing them in conversation probably during the 1940's. I make no claim to accuracy, and there are probably variant definitions because the entire construct is rather loose. (For example, the term "redbone" has also been associated with Indian/Black/white mixtures). A far as I am concerned , these are strictly "folk cultural classifications" and hold no presumption of legitimacy. There may very well be documented confirmation somewhere, but I am not presently aware of any. I would be interested in the names you mentioned. I may have related information. Hope this helps, Bryant Notify Administrator about this message?
