thanks Joan. James Pilot was born around 1918. There are 5 elzie pilots of various ages. I did find one on the New Orleans boat lists with his birthdate as 1833 ( I think ). he, elzie, was listed as a business man. this family is black possibly cuban or carribean descent. I'm guessing because the name pilot is french. they settled in Kingville TX. I just happened onto the King ranch and wondered if the ranch employees mexican people did they also have slaves or employ black people too?
