I am looking for any information on the Marshall family of Stringtown. A Mathew Marshall and his son John Robert Marshall came to Stringtown about 1847 and are on the 1850 Newton County census. John Robert died in a farm accident in 1889 and is buried in the Old Union Cemetery south of Stringtown. His father Mathew died about 1852 and may be buried there also. John Robert had a son, Curtis W. Marshall who was my g-grandfather. He is buried in Woods Cemetery. Any info is appreciated. Does someone have a cemetery list for Old Union Cemetery? Would love to visit the area and see if any of the old homesites exist. If anyone has any information, old photos, etc. I would love to hear from you!
