Sandra,

As others have pointed out, there was no US census of Texas until 1850. However there is a census of 1829-1836 of Early Texas, and there is an 1840 census of the Republic of Texas. There is also an early record of Texas inhabitants 1820-1829, writen by Marion D. Mullins.

You can find these in at least two libraries in Texas: the Dallas Public Library, genealogy section on 8th floor of the downtown library; the Clayton Library in Houston.
