Does anyone know if Frances Winstead Paine Butler is buried in Nacogdoches County, Texas? She was born ca. 1798 (March 15 according to some sources)in NC and died sometime after 1856, place uncertain.
Frances Winstead married James Paine (b 1794 NC). After his death, she married Gabriel Butler in 1835 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Gabriel Butler died in 1856 and at that time Frances was still living as she was named in his will.
With no proof of date or place of death for Frances W.P. Butler, descendants in Lauderdale County have always thought she was buried in an unmarked grave in Butler Cemetery in Lauderdale County. However, I have seen it said that she died in Nacogdoches County, TX.
Some of her children moved out there from Alabama. Frances's son John Winstead Paine married Asenath Bone. They lived in Nacogdoches and are buried there in the Douglass Cemetery. Her son James Claudius B. Paine married Mary E. Basket and lived in Nacogdoches County, too.
Where is James C.B. Paine and wife Mary Basket Paine buried? Are they buried in Douglass Cemetery? Could Frances W.P. Butler be buried there, too?
Does anyone have any proof at all that Frances Winstead Paine Butler was in Nacogdoches County, Texas after the death of her husband Gabriel Butler in 1856?
