We were just in Linn Flat today.
We were there to find and visit the Linn Flat Cem. looking for Berryhills. We found 3 graves of Berryhills. But more are there ,they are unmarked. We visited the President of the Linn Cemetery Assc. The Linn Flat Cemetery is having their Home Coming tomorrow Sunday ,June 24,2000 at 11:00am.
It is not a town ,its just a very small country community, very beautiful area.
We met another couple at the Cemetery who were from the Community and were very helpful to us.The told us of and showed us where the town once was.Nothing there now for anyone to ever know there was once a boom town there.About a quarter mile up the oil top road from the Linn Flat Cemetery was another Cemetery we also went to,it was a Linn Flat Black Cemetery. It had many very old markers. And many were sinking into the ground .We searched there for Berryhills also because they were Indians and in those days Indians were persons of color and in many places could not be buried in White Cemeteries.Did not find any Berryhills there.
The couple we met are going to meet us at a later date when we go back to Linn Flat to go see on the back part of their fathers land the old Berryhill Field. When we go back I would be happy to look in the Cemetery for you.The Cemetery had many old beautiful head stones some looked like Kings and Queens in a Chess game.
Hope this helps you.
