Rani,
Are you part of the Everett family from Morris county? I knew old "General" Rivers, a very old man then in the early 1960's. I understood that he had been born in slavery. My understanding is that the land he lived on had been deeded to him by his former owner at the end of the War. He left a large family, many of which I knew. Floyd Rivers was one of the finest men, Black or White that I've ever known. He passed a couple of years ago. Let me know if there is anything else I can find for you. I still live near there. By the way, which set of Everetts are you related to? Not Ray or Zembra by chance?

Randy Reed
