Margaret Carter and Matilda Alice Osborne Collins

I am trying to find a great grandmother named Matilda Alice Osborne b. 1 Feb 1872 at Pen Oak, Liberty, Co. Texas, the daughter of Margaret Carter and ? Osborne.
She married John Thomas Collins 12 Feb 1891.
Margaret ran an inn on the San Jacinto River near Cleveland, Liberty Co., Texas. Supposedly she was married to a Carter and He died(?). A man named Osborne came down the San Jacinto River on a riverboat and they soon maried. He took a job on/or near Tarkington(?) east of Cleveland and got sick. She went to take care of him and they both died.
Matilda and an older brother (possible a Carter, were left at the inn. A flood came and the Isaacks family lived near by. Grandpa Isaacks (no idea of given name) went in with his sons (?) to get the kids. Grandpa Issacks carried 4 year old Matilda our on his shoulders in chest high water.
I know this is all sketchy but I only have these clues from an old letter. Nothing more. I thought maybe some one had a clue about the Isaacks family near Cleveland in your research. You may have found the Missing Margaret and Matilda.
Any help would be appreciated.
I tried the census without much luck.
I also have nothing about the Osborne family. He was supposedly from Ill. or Ind.
Thanks
