Martin Pierce who was born in TN moved to Forestburg, Montague Co, TX by the time of the 1900 Census.
He had served in the 20th TN Cavalry Company G in the Civil War. He was wounded and sent to the Lauderdale Co MS Confederate Hospital but recovered. He had ridden a $900 Roan horse given him by his father, John B. Pierce.
Martin Pierce returned to Dyer Co,TN and farmed.
He married Mittie A.Tisdale on 5 Dec 1871. They lived in District 5 of Dyer Co
at the time of the 1880 Census with children: Clifford 8, Ellen 5, Eugenia 2, and Rufus L. 7 months.
Then by 1900 they had moved to TX.
Is there anyone in Montague Co, TX or elsewhere who might have information about Martin Pierce.
I descend from his younger brother, George Pascal Pierce.
