Hi Laura!
I looked also at the Family Search site. Didn't find him either, although there are several Jim/James/Jimmie etc. Campbells that die in 1924 in other counties. Without some date of birth or other info, it was hard to tell if one of those could have been him.

Keep in mind, although the death certificate law went into effect in 1903, it was not strictly enforced until MUCH later. It's entirely possible that there was no death certificate issued.

Maybe somenone else will have better luck.
