There is quite a lot about your great aunt in this book. There are two articles written by her grand daughter, Barbara Jo Ealand Collins (m. Ernest Clay Collins, [now deceased] in June, 1953). There is no address listed for her, so I do not know how to tell you the get in touch with her. I will hit some highlights from the articles she wrote.
Arthur Richard Jackson Ealand m. Mary Louise Ealand nee Atherton. She was also known as "Ms.Ealand", "Mama", "Granny", "Lula", and "Aunt Ealand". Mrs. Collins said that she never heard her called by her given name. Her mother was German and her father Scotch-Irish. It is noted that she was "a farmer's daughter from Seguin, Texas". From Mrs. Collins' article it seems that Mrs. Ealand was a person who welcomed people into her home who had nowhere else to go or needed help. She never charged, but required that everyone work and help with the chores.
(A side-note) I had never read this particular article and upon reading it I found that one of the people who Mrs. Ealand had helped was a great aunt of mine.....Ada Luce.
There is no birth date given for Ms. Ealand, but it is noted that in 1936 she was 69 years old. She and Arthur had three children, Pearl Louise, Harriet Elizabeth and Arthur Richard. She died August 3, 1962 at age of 95, in Jasper, Texas. Ms. Collins' father was Arthur Richard who died in 1943 in Chalk Hill, Texas. Pearl and Harriet married brothers, Webster and Charlie Fowler, both from Gause. Not long after they were married both brothers took typhoid fever and died within two week of each other, leaving Harriet with a small baby daughter and Pearl pregnant with her only child, a son. Pearl married again, but no name given, and had no more children. Harriet later married Charlie Jones and had four more children.
