Searching for parents of James Knox Polk SHELTON b. 1846 TN, and brother William C. b. 1848 TN. Not on 1850 TN cenus. believed to have gone to Alabama. Appear in TX in 1870 (both in Milam Co) 1880 (William C. in Milam Co & J.P. in Smith Co TX) James KP SHELTON md. Sarah Alice OLIVER 5 Jan 1875 Ellis Co. TX, first child James Virgil b. in Hempstead, Waller Co. TX 19 Oct 1875. JKP died 11 Oct 1891 Smith Co. TX. He went from AL to TN to join the civil war 7 Dec 1861. Served in Tenn 44th CSA Co I. Alice OLIVER was born in GA 1850, parents were Chapman OLIVER and Emma WHITTINGTON b. AL. They came to TX in 1863. Thank you for any input concerning this family. ~~Dee Colvin in North East Texas
