In one of your letters you told of a letter from Mabel Blocker Dick and she listed the children of John and Eliza Blocker and one was Ella, born abt 1872. My Luella was often called Ella. She was born in 1873 in Burleson Co. Texas, according to my info. I am in the process of writing County Clerk there for "anything" as to birth or census records. She married my grandfather, Edgar Eugene Miles in Cameron, Texas on July 22, 1893. He died very young, like 33. She was left with 2 little boys, Wilburn and Eugene. She also had a sister Sallie that married one of her husband's brothers.
So... this has got to be my great-grandparents, John and Eliza Blocker.
Especially, if his name was John Robert Blocker who served as a private in the 22 Reg't, Mississippi Infantry and was injured in the arm.
It sounds right that his wife was from Mississippi since he joined the Confederate Army at Inka, Miss. on August 22, 1861 and served three years.
According to her death certificate, Ella was born Jan. 2, 1873 and died Oct. 11, 1938. Her death certificate lists her birth in Burleson Co. Texas and her parents as J.R. Blocker and Miss Jrancis Jordan. And they were from Mississippi. Ella is buried at Guthrie, Okla.
So ... I really think Eliza and John were the parents of my Ella. If you could find out if your John Blocker's middle name was Robert ... that would cinch it for us!
thanks, Dallie Miles Howerton
