Thanks so much for your help!
John & Stella were in Midland for the 1920 Federal Census so I assume that his death in Dec 1920 would have been in Midland. Still no luck though getting death certificate or obituary. Also no luck on finding birth or death certificates for child #1, but this baby might have been born in LA or MS prior to their move to Midland. I think they arrived in Midland 1911-1918. And finally, no luck finding Stella after John's death in 1920.
But as you said, more is online everyday. I'll keep looking.
