I have a copy of my grandparents (William Kaufman and Rafaela/Rachel Cera Kaufman, death certificates.
My grandfather's name was:William Raymond Kaufman, born 6/23/1862, in Texas, and died 8/10/1944, in Los Angeles, CA.No city or county in Texas was listed for birthplace. No names for either of his parents were listed on the death certificate. The informant listed on the death certificate either did not know this information or chose not to give it to the authorities.
My grandmother's name was:Rafaela Cera (maiden name)Kaufman. She also went by the name of Rachel. Her birthdate is listed as "unknown."As for her birthplace, all that was listed was "Mexico."No city, state, or geographic area. The names of her parents were not listed on the death certificate. The informant was my grandfather, her husband, William Raymond Kaufman.
The lack of information on my grandfather's part really bugs me.Just how stupid was he, or was he just really angry at his wife for whatever reason and chose to be a jerk when reporting this information to the authorities. It looks like maybe he had something to hide. Maybe this was how things were done in those days, I don't know.
If anyone out there can shed some light about my grandparents please send responses to:

Many thanks!
