My step grandfather is Marvin Childress. Just last week he was telling me of a flood in Galveston in which his father barely survived by climbing on a floating roof and staying there for about 12 hours. He left Galveston and never went back.
Marvin is about 88 years old. If you think there is any connection I will get more info from him.
