The online CA birth index shows: Ralph McKeral b 6/23/1916 LOS ANGELES Co, CA. Mother's maiden name Jourdan. I did not find a birth record for Don or Donald. Have you checked the 1920 census?

Texas has a state wide death index from 1903 to about 1940, (At this time TX online death index only goes back to 1964 & I did not find a John, Thomas or Isaac McKeral, using Soundex spelling to catch other possible entries.) You might check with Austin on the state wide index regarding death of John/Thomas.
