Since you've checked his death certificate, did it include his Social Security number? SSDI may have his name different then what you are looking for, but with SS number you should be able to get correct info on him. You could obtain a copy of his Social Security application. This form would be filled out by Lee and might include info he never told his family. Such as name he went by, when and where he was born etc. You say his birth certificate wasn't helpful. I'm surprised he had one from 1895/96, was it a delayed birth certificate? Many people were applying for them during WWII. Otherwise, how come you do not know exact birth date and where he was born?
