Very good query, I would post the same one on the Harris Co, TX GenWeb site. Harris Co, TX has the Clayton Lib, a good gen. lib., and maybe someone will do a lookup for you. Many GenWeb counties have their local cemeteries online. I would think your Huffmans would be in a history of Harris Co. Click on hyperlink at the end of this message. It will take you to the state of TX GenWeb site. I recommend clicking on all the options and see what they have to offer. TX is one of the states with a lot of info. Scroll down to option for counties, click on "H" for Harris Co.=== Second hyperlink is for Handbook of TX, click on it, type in Huffman and several items will come up. Number one will give you some background on Huffman, started in 1839 by "David Huffman". You'll see there is a Huffman connection with Lyndon Baines Johnson - yours? Since 1st child was born too late in 1880, the 1880 Soundex won't be any help. The 1880 Soundex is unique in that it only indexed households with children under 10 yrs. of age. But, there is a published 1880 TX index, which does head of all households. If you can't find a copy, I will check next visit to our local gen. coll. Eventually you may want to check land and probate records for Harris Co., to see if James sold his land, or a probate was filed for him.
