Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

TX has a state wide death index, (1903-1941) which will give you exact date and county of death. You could then obtain a copy of his death certificate, which should have names and birth locations of his parents. Remember, accuracy only as good as the knowledge of the informant. Also, with exact date of death you could look for an obituary, too.
