Palestine, TX Court House

A number of years ago when family research was just beginning in the Palestine Court House records, a relative was able to see and copy a particular record. However, it was learned that when the relative was finished with the document, instead of the clerk returning the document to the correct file, she simply tossed it among all of the other files. A few years later, I made a request for that file and was told it couldn't be located. Thus, it makes me wonder just how many files were requested and when returned they, too, may have been tossed in among all of the other files never to be seen again by other family researchers.

If you have a story about misplaced files then do share that info with me and others. Don't forget to name the Court House and it's location.
