HISTORY OF THE LIFE OF JAMES MARION SALMON & ELMIE O. WEBB
James Marion Salmon was born August 9, 1857 in Navarro County, Texas. The oldest child of the union of John L. Salmon and Talitha Emmalyn DeArmond. The other children of this family is Bill Salmon, deceased, Pete Salmon, deceased, Charles Salmon (Duncan, OK), Bertha Salmon (Meadows) Arizona, Homer Salmon (Mountainview, OK).
Marion Salmon as he was known spent the early part of his life as a cowboy on a ranch in Texas.
On Nov. 8, 1878, he was married to Kate Collier and moved to Montague County, Texas. Two years later in 1880, to this union were born two children, Pearl who died when a child and Fred, born in 1881 who is still living at this time (now dead). When Fred was quite small the mother and wife, Kate Collier Salmon departed this life and was buried in Southern, Texas.
On November 3, 1887, James Marion Salmon was married to Elmie O. Webb at Duxberry, Texas. To this union were born eight children:

Bertha Esther Salmon born Feb. 12, 1893
William Houston Salmon born July 11, 1895
Gilbert Marion Salmon born July 13, 1898
Henry Roy Salmon born May 6, 1901
Clara Ola Salmon born December 8, 1904
Wilton Webb Salmon born November 14, 1906
James Floyd Salmon born October 22, 1910
Mr. Salmon was converted and joined the Baptist Church at the age of 16 years. He was ordained as a Deacon at Greenbrier Church in Montague County, Texas by the ordaining board, Rev. Caltharp, Rev. Reed and Rev. Martin. The greenbrier Church was dissolved later. Mr. Salmon's membership was placed with the Fox Church. In 1907 the family moved to Stephens County, OK, 6 1/4 miles Southwest of Comanche, OK. The Church membership was first placed in the Madden Grove Church and later transferred to the Bethel Church, better known as Diamond Church. This church was dissolved about 1914. In 1917 the family bought a farm known as the Cheaves Place, 2 miles West of Duncan, OK. The next year they moved to Duncan, and later to a farm 3 miles South of Duncan. There they remained until moving to the present location (where father Salmon died Jan. 1935), 709 Cedar St, Duncan, OK.
After moving to Duncan his church membership was placed with the Duncan Baptist Church.
Elmie O. Webb was born June 5, 1870 in Fannin County, Texas. She was the oldest of three children of Seth Webb and Sylvania Baker. The two other children are Mary Webb Parchman, deceased, William Baker Webb of Clarendon, Texas. Mrs. Salmon's father died when she was seven years old and her mother was taken when Mrs. Salmon was 10 years old. She went to live with her cousins John and Jane Anderson in whose care she remained until she married James Marion Salmon Nov. 3, 1887 at Duxberry, Texas, she died Sept. 24, 1958.
