Looking for the family of Charles Bennett Smith, 1835-1917

Hello, My name is Bo Smith. I am new to genealogy research and desperately seeking the parents of and information about one Charles Bennett "Charley" Smith, born, according to later census records, in North Carolina in 1835, and buried at the Plainview Cemetery in Dawson, TX:

The earliest account I have of him is in the 1860 census, when he was 25 years old. He was already living in Texas at the time. It lists him as a farm hand living with what I presume is his wife's family (also named Smith)

I have been looking for his parents for several months now. I can't find any information on his parents, and don't know how to go about looking for it (a death certificate, for example).

I found a copy of his marriage license on microfilm at the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and saved and electronic copy of it. I am having a difficult time hosting an electronic copy of it, but will be happy to email it to any interested persons, or keep trying to host it.

I would greatly appreciate any help, pointers, or clues. Thank you very much.

Bo Smith
