Obituary found in The Primitive Baptist," published in Milburnie, Wake Co., Oct. 8, 1859....

Exum L. Holland, son of Henry Holland, b. Aug. 17, 1778 in Isle of Wight, Va.; moved to Edgecombe Co., NC when a youth.
He married in Nansemond Co., Va. Dec. 15, 1802 to Nancy Skinner. In Nov. 1823, he moved from Edgecombe Co., NC to Madison Co., Tenn. He joined the Baptist Church at Bethel in 1827. In 1835, he moved to Sumpter Co., AL and joined the church at Bethel. His wife died on Apr. 11, 1849. In 1854 he went to Leon Co., Texas and lived with his son-in-law, Jesse Simms. He could read without spectacles very well, but had used glasses many years before he came to Texas. He belonged to the Friendship Church. Exum died on Aug. 17, 1859, age 81, at the home of his son-in-law Jesse Simms, Leon Co., TX, 12 miles SW of Centreville.
