Month and year of birth for J.W. matches 1900 census in Shelby Co, TX. But, on Find a Grave site they have photo of headstone for John W. Blackmon and wife "Susan" so now I'm not so sure.
Now on Find a Grave there is headstone for Thomas Blackman d 1 Mar 1935 and that does match son Thomas Swift's death certificate.
There are some good researchers who browse this forum with access to sources I don't have. Maybe one of them can build on this and find more for you.
