Need help finding info: Frank H. Prather born 1845 TX.

Frank Harvey Prather born 31 Dec 1845 maybe Travis county,Texas. Would like to find out if his father is Thomas Freeman Prather ~ Thomas' death was about 1849 San Augustine county,Texas. The mother is thought to be Elizabeth Walker. Have not found any proof. Frank served Civil War as Frank H. Prather in Co. C , 4 BN TX.,Cav. CSA. This was found on a pension record. Would like to know how to get this record of his service. Would like to find the family on the 1850 Census ~ they lived in San Augustine county,Travis then in Hays counties Texas. Appreciate any help. Emil
