Well, I don't know, if you look at the 1900 census for Collin Co, TX, for James F. and Sally, the children are interspersed with the children of James and Sallie on the 1900 Nevada Co, AR census. Also Collin Co, TX couple show married 15 years and the Nevada Co, AR couple show married 24 years, so it looks like two separate couples.
1880 census Nevada Co, AR:
Category: Name;Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace,

You might look for marriage record for this couple in Nevada Co, AR. Or, even Ouachita Co, AR where James is living with his family as a youngster.
Or, you could watch in those counties for any probate records for a Montgomery who lists among the heirs a Sarah/Sallie Edwards. That's what I'm doing right now on the wife of my Daniel Rice in the 1700s in VA. We don't know for sure what his wife's maiden name is, someone posted Burress, but doesn't know where she got the information -- grrrrr. So I'm tracking down that line, to either prove or disprove.LOL
Looks like the father of James made it to TX and is on the 1880 census in Wood Co, living with his daughter Julia and her husband Alex M. Wren.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
