You might have some luck on familysearch.org which has "Texas County Tax Rolls 1846-1910" HOWEVER; they are not indexed and you have to search image by image. And while they may appear to have been recorded alphabetically, sometimes they are not (I've found our "Wilson" in the middle of the "B's" etc.) On the plus side,there aren't a lot of pages in these early years, as there weren't that many land owners!
If you've not used familysearch before--you have to sign up with a user name etc. to access the images.
