Presswood was the original name for New Caney, TX, which is about 17 miles SE of Conroe, TX in Montgomery Co.

In 1880, Clarence W. Philips was living in Boggy, Montgomery Co., a farmer, age 31, b. GA, parents b. GA. Also in the household are his wife Sarah, age 23, b. TX, parents b. AL, daughters Minnie and Thaddie (I think), twins age 3, and a son Louis H., age 1.

There are too many John Mays in the 1880 census to ascertain the one you mention, but none in Montgomery Co.

I suspect Clarence and Sarah had another son in about 1882. In 1900, there is a Clarence Philips, age 18, living in nearby Harris Co.
