Looking for information on and the parents of James Jacob BREWER b. 1835-1838 in North Carolina. He came to Texas about 1858 at the age os 20 or 23. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 and served in Captain Meyer's Troups "B", DeBray's 26th Reginment Calvary, later transferred to Captain Fulton's Troop "G", same regiment. He spent much of his enlistment in the Galveston area, along the Texas Gulf Coast. DeBray's Regiment was instrumental in the retaking of Galveston from the Yankees. He was discharged in May 1865. James Jacob stated in his application for Confederate Pension dated April 15, 1903 he had lived in Fayette County, Texas since 1858. Since I did not find him on the 1850 census I believe he came to Texas about that time. He married Malinda A. Harrell 9-13-1865 in Fayette Co., Texas. She is the daughter of Elisha and Katherine Carmichael Harrell. They have five known children.
