John Robert Grimes Family

Iím very interested in connecting with any descendents of John Robert and Ellen Virginia Baker Grimes. John Robert Grimes was born 13 June 1851 in either Lawrence or Lewis County, Tennessee. Iíve read some family notes claiming he was born near Little Rock, Arkansas, but this is incorrect per census records. Census records indicate John Robert Grimes was the son of John C. and Eveline __ Grimes, who migrated from Lawrence County (1850) to Lewis County (1860), Tennessee before settling in White River Township, Independence County, Arkansas (1870). John C. Grimes died on 12 August 1873 and was interred at the Macedonia Cemetery, Wycough Township, Independence County, Arkansas.

John Robert and Ellen Virginia Baker Grimes first lived in Weakley County, Tennessee before migrating to Tarrant County, Texas and finally settling in Love County, Oklahoma. They had 12 children: John Calvin, Louisa Tennessee, Fannie Evaline, Minnie Ola, William Franklin, Harvey Henderson, Thomas Jefferson, Bula Prudence, Clara Catherine, Flora, Eva Pear, and Nada Ruth.

Clara Catherine Grimes married Robert Milton Culwell and were my grandparents. Their daughter, Mary Virginia Culwell was my mother.

John Robert and Ellen Virginia Baker Grimes are interred at the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, Love County, Oklahoma.

Any information on other descendents of John Robert and Ellen Virginia Grimes will be greatly appreciated and I would especially enjoy further correspondence with other descendents.

Sincerely,

John Robert Priddy
