I know the Secrest and Shockley families are well known in Hamilton Co, TX history. My gr grandfather's brother Rufus Price Rice married one of the Shockleys, Martha Ann (Mattie) Shockley in 1879.
My gr gr grandfather, James M. Rice, helped form the county, the main highway through the county seat, Hamilton, is named Rice. I've found things on Elreeta's site I've never found anywhere else. Like the fact the James Rice shot and killed a man.
