When and where did he die? The Family History Library in Salt Lake City has microfilmed many old records, but you will need to know county and date. If they've filmed the area and time period of the record you can order the film out to your local Family History Center (for a small fee). They will notify you when it arrives and tell you how long they will hold it before it has to go back to SLC.
Also, check GenWeb site for county and state of the record, some GenWeb sites have old records on their sites.
Since you have "other names in the will" I'm assuming you know something about it. The name James Rice caught my eye, but it is a common name.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
