Re: Frederick or Emma? Hasemann
Have tracked my ancestry to:
1895 MN Territory Census - Watonwah Co, Adrian
Sophia M Post 57 yr head of household
Frederick H J Post 28 yr son
Henry F Post 25 yr son
William H J Post 23 yr son
Frederick Hasemann 17 yr
Frederick Post is my GGrandfather and I believe he was married to a woman named Hasemann (likely Emma). It's possible she was this young man's sister as separate references show they both were born in Texas with parents from Germany... although I've no idea if he was their farm hand or what.
This Post family was all born in Hanover, Germany and arrived in the US in 1881 (unknown if their father came as well).
I have no details other than those given above and would be so very greatful if anyone can shed some light on these folks or even to educate me as to the basics of how Germans were coming to Texas and then Minnesota (there were quite a few) and why?
Thanks so much! Lynn
