Constance,
Thank you very much for your help. I will be more considerate toward my "viewers" in the future and try to make it as simple as I can. I will apply for the SS-5 as soon as I can.
Yes, the Ernest Thomas EVANS you listed is my grandfather and was born in Hubbard, Hill County, TX. Son of William M. EVANS (Hill County, TX) and Melissa (Lissy) THURMAN(TN)
SAME ? (***My grandfather was Ernest Thomas Evans... born 27 Nov, 1998; however at this time... I won't confirm either way)
World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Thomas Ernest Evans
City: Not Stated
County: Limestone
State: Texas
Birth Date: 27 Nov 1898
Race: White
Roll: 1983382
DraftBoard: 0
Lucille and Ernest had four children.
Jimmy Dixon B: 1 Nov 1928
Jack Duard B: 25 March 1934 D: 27, March 1934 (I think he was buried at Union High, TX)
Glen Donald B: 5 April 1932 D: (Unknown exact date at this time approx 1998)
Nannie Aline Thomas 18 Nov 1936 married John Green Patrick. (Aline is my mother)
"Uncle" (great uncle) Elbert Washington Thomas is my grandmothers brother and Aunt Nettie was his wife.
At this time I am not absolutely certain of granny Lucille's father. I thought it was Thomas Thomas. (I remember as a little kid having a conversation about him having the same first and last name as well as a president. I always thought it was Thomas Washington Thomas but everything so far- points to James.
My granny Lucille's mother's white name was Mary Williams. Granny said she was born on a reservation (??) and a traveling preacher by the name of Rev. Williams took her in after her family tribe was burned down. Mary was Choctaw/Cherokee. I do not know when she died. My mamma and Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Essie's grandson Shorty French say she is buried in Brushie Prairie, Texas. I'm sorry... I have no other information on her. FYI: my mamma said she THOUGHT her grandfathers name was Jim but didn't know cause she didn't know him but that he was Irish and Blackfoot.
My uncle Jimmy is happy to do a DNA (last living son of my grandmother. **is that the same as direct male?) and we WILL have the DNA done for future 'test' for a lack of better words. However, Mary wasn't really a Williams. Right? And I just don't have any other name to go on.
I know when I was a kid, my granny had cousins come all the way to Corsicana, TX from Durant, OK. Two women... mother and daughter. Mostly what I remember was they had brought a dress and it had bells all over it and I wondered why..... I learned that day that my great grandmother had been beaten a lot for speaking about who she was (being Native American). Mary mourned her whole life the family she lost. Oh, how I wish I knew their name! But I just don't.
Thank you for your help. I am wondering if there could be two Mary Thomas'. I am just not certain about the children Agustus or Ninnie. I am certain of these siblings but am not sure of birth/death dates:
Elbert Washington Thomas (my mamma called him Uncle Red)
Robert Jack Thomas (called Jack)
Essie Florence Thomas (who, I'm named after and told she also had bright red curly hair). Essie married Samual Tilman French SR. Called S.T)
Nannie Lucille Thomas (aka: granny)
Seems half the kids in her family had bright red hair and the other striaght jet black hair (mine is the latter). Oh, something I remember is that granny would made a comment about her sister Essie still being more of the Indian side than of the Irish side- even with her red hair- I was JUST like her she would tell me. I usually got this as I tried to jump a switch.
Hopefully, I didn't just confuse you more.
Thanks again!
Smiles,
Mary
