Who are the parents of Thomas E. Gerren / Gerron / Garren / Geren who was a deputy sheriff in Denton County in the late 1870’s then became a deputy U. S. marshal who operated in north Texas and sometimes the Indian Territory, then a railroad agent working out of Fort Worth besides Denton County.
From different newspaper items, Thomas Gerren was accused to being too friendly with Sam Bass, by Everheart, sheriff of Grayson Co., TX in 1878 when Everheart and Gerren had some difficulties. Later Thomas Gerren worked as a deputy U. S. marshal with a few items describing the arrests, etc. There are a few more articles, including his death in October 1912 in Fort Worth. (if you find his death on the Texas death index or the familysearch.org death certificate images, please share the information if you can find it). The Denton newspaper had a short time, Oct. 22, 1912, about his death and the effort to move the body of his wife from Denton to the cemetery in Fort Worth by his son-in-law Haley / Hailey who had married Martha Gerren, daughter of Thomas E. (there is a death certifcate on familysearch.org about the death of Martha's daughter--nearest match with the Haley and Gerren as parents).
Another article mentioned Tom Gerren Jr. visiting in Denton about 1909 from South McAlester, Oklahoma.
There is also a Thomas Gerren who served as county clerk of Erath County, Texas about 1900.
More questions: On the 1900 Denton Co., TX census, which should have had Thomas Gerren listed but did not, as far as I could search without going through every page, there is the family of Robert Geren from Tennessee, Robert was born in the 1860’s—was Robert related to Thomas E. Gerren?
Appreciate any information about Thomas’s parents.
