I'm searching for information on the same family. My ggrandfather was Willie Cross, who married Virginia Maines on Jan. 7, 1885. However, he was married earlier to Cassie (A. Casalonia) Richey (m: 2-24-1879). They had two children, Sallie and William Franklin Cross. Wm Franklin was my grandfather. We think Cassie died because the two children were left with family and Willie married Virginia n Jan. 7, 1885 in Falls County. My mother met their son Elbert Eugene Cross, (b: 6-26-1886). On his certificate of death I show parents as listed above, he died in Conroe, Rural Route 2, on April 2, 1952. Mom says he had two sisters she knew as 'Lizzie' and 'Cassie'. Eugene had two sons, Eugene and Homer, and a daughter, Estelle. Unfortunately all the children have passed on, Homer and Estelle within the last couple of years. I have been trying to find Willie Cross' family for almost 7 years with no luck. I believe he came from Georgia and was born abt. 1851. Maybe, between the two of us, we can figure this all out. I'm with you regarding 'Jennie' being divorced and still using Maines but maybe she went back to her maiden name, or it was annulled. That was very young to already have been married and divorced. Cassie, my ggrandmother, was sister to Celia Richey who married Elbert B. Maines. I have info on their children and granchildren. My biggest concern is that there are two Virginia Maines but because she named her son Elbert, I'm thinking this must be the right one.
It's so confusing.
