I would post your query on the gebweb site for Gavin Co, OK, San Saba Co, TX and Mills Co, TX. You might find someone else working on one of these lines. Check with the Texas State Archives and see if William R. Hamilton also served in a state militia or the CSA Army. If so, they should know if he was mustered out, went AWOL or died.
