Boy Found Destitute
Weatherford, Aug. 16: Officers picked up a 15 year old boy at the Texas & Pacific station in a dangerous condition, delirious with fever. He was taken to the courthouse and the county physician (unnamed) examined him. County judge STENNIS had him taken to a hotel to remain until he is well. He claims his father lives in Madison County and has an uncle at Abilene. He gives his name as Francis or French, claims to have come here from Dallas. He was clothed in rags and dirty until county clerk BANKHEAD took pity and bought him an outfit of clothes at a store. He was given a bath, clothed in his new suit and said he felt better…. Some thought he had yellow fever, but did not.
