Oh, I'm sorry! Didn't mean for anyone to go to all that trouble, finding all the information I already have. Etta Coleman (McCracken) Bennett is my grandmother. Her ashes are intered in Oakwood Cemetery, Waco, TX.

Willis E. McCracken told the Houston Chronicle reporters that he was born in Columbus, MS, so I think the censustaker had it wrong.

Yes, I have the 1880 and 1900 Census. I've found some references to his name, and I'm not sure they are written about my grandfather. E.g. a court case in Bell, TX. I'm sure a letter to the Saturday Review in 1901 was written by him.

Why I asked about W.E. McCracken is because of my curiosity about where he lived and what he did between 1900 and his death in 1953, probably in Texas and Tennessee. In the 1920's he lived in San Antonio, TX. I'm just hoping somebody knew him, or has found his name in their research.
