Who were the parents of Noah T. Byars? Many articles, allocades and honors have been written about this Texas Hero of the Texas Revolution. His success as a founding pastor of many Baptist Churches has been well documented. The names of his wifes and children have been published in many places. We know who he is and the roll he played in Texas History.
I have been researching the Byars genealogy from Virginia, to North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Texas, for 25 years. The only thing I have found prior to Noah coming to Texas is: He was born 1808 in Spartanburg Dist. SC. It was also mentioned that he went with a Nathan Byars to Butts Co. GA and then he came to Texas. I have also seen a couple of suggestions about his middle name.
My Byars research led me to Spartanburg Dist, SC where I believe my ancestor Nathan Byars Jr. b. c. 1772/1774 b NC went when he left NC. He married a woman named Emily Turner. In some places she is called Millie. Proof of this is in John Turners Will of 1813. Was this Nathan and Emily the parents of Noah Turner Byars? My Nathan Byars Jr had a son Nathan III b. SC who married Elizabeth Womack and lived in Lawrence Co. AL. in 1850. Nathan III had several sons one of whom was Harrell Byars who md Nancy Tackett in Lawrence Co. AL. By 1860 this family was in Fannin Co. TX.
Their son Daniel Webster Byars was a Texas Ranger. When Texas left the Union many of the Texas Ranger Divisions were transferred to the Confederate Army.
It is my feeling that Noah Turner Byars was the brother of my Nathan Byars III. So I ask, does anyone know who the parents of Noah Turner Byars was? I would be greatful if anyone can give me this information. cbh
