Have you tried the soundex for 1900 Texas census? Since Lila was born 1896 in Hardin Co, TX, I would look for "J" CREEL in that county. You will have to check all initial "J", and combination "J" with possible middle initial, too, then all men whose given name begins with a "J". Will have dau, Lila, about 4 yrs old, and if she didn't die, wife Julia. I don't know if CREEL is common, but you might want to check out other CREELs in Hardin Co, too.
