Thanks for your response to my cousin Peg. You may have access to some data bases that I do not. John Hamblin was b abt 1840 in Weakley county TN., his father was Joel. With ages of his children John and Jane I am almost positive that he was married before. He served in the Union army for a short time. I believe he was married first about 1860-1863 possibly to a Coggin's. The census and land records people also had their names spelled: Hammill, Hamill, Hambling, Hamil, Hamlin, Hamblin, Hamblen. Can you look through your data bases and see if can pick anything up on a previous marriage.
